Bon week end

These beautiful pictures of Paris by Little Brown Pen  make me a little bit homesick...
I feel like I can hear and smell the city by just looking at them.
Time for me to go get a baguette and some croissants to get my little fix of France (thank God I have an 'European bakery' right at the end of my street, yay !)

Available here

Have a fantastic week end xx

Miam ! Chicken noodle soup

Last night after 3 days of non-stop rain in Boston, I was craving some warm nice comfort food...

This is a recipe I found in the Fresh&Quick food magazine and I love it !
Simple and delicious

What you need for 2-3 persons :
1 inch of fresh ginger
2 chicken breasts (the original recipe uses chicken thighs, but I like chicken breasts better)
Salt/Pepper/Vegetable oil
2 medium shallots thinly sliced (about 1/3 cup)
1 qt chicken broth (I recommend homemade)
4 oz Chinese egg noodles
2 cups watercress
1 tsp ponzu sauce (or a mix of lemon juice and soy sauce)

Peel the ginger and slice it thickly
Lay the slices on a cutting board, cover with plastic wrap ans smash ginger with a meat mallet or heavy pan
Heat 1 tsp vegetable oil in a pot over medium-high heat.
Season chicken with salt and pepper, cut it and brown it for about 2 min
Then transfer to a plate (chicken will not be fully cooked)
Reduce the heat slightly and add shallots + ginger and sauté until browned, stirring for 2 min
Add the chicken broth and scrape the bottom of the pot
Return the chicken to the pot ans bring the broth to a simmer, cook partially covered for 3 min
Add the noodles and simmer for another 5 min (approx.)
Remove the pan from the heat, add watercress and ponzu sauce and stir well.
Serve right away...aaaaaahhhh so good !
Bon Appétit !

In love with Sessun

It's raining in Boston today and somehow it puts me in the mood for Fall...
What I mean by that is that a season change is always the best excuse to update your wardrobe and I can finally start my Fall-Winter window shopping, yay !

First stop, my all-time favorite French brand : Sessun
These pictures make me wish my hair was straight so I could get a bang like this......sigh

In the meantime, here are my favorite pieces :

Available in the US at Penelope's
and in Europe on the Sessun e-shop and at Mon Showroom

Bon week end

Are you doing anything fun this week end ?
We're going to beach again tomorrow and I can't wait !
I want to take advantage of every single sunny week end we have until the weather gets chilly (it's coming !)
Have a fantastic week end

Little O's pick : mister cat and its mouse

Ladies and gentlemen this one is little o's favorite toy at the moment (and he has a lot to pick from)...

This adorable Djeco wooden stacking toy is great ! Kids can learn shapes and colors, and the small mouse hidden under the rings is such a cute discovery element for them.

O's cat has been drooled on, chewed on and banged against the floor and I can tell you it still looks like new. Ok, I'll admit it, only the left ear of the cat looks a little bit weird after some intense chewing by then-teething little O.

Also available, a more girly option with mother hen and her hidden egg

Available in the US at Moolka

Mon petit coeur

Secretly I've always hoped that one day I could decorate one of my bedroom wall with something like this...

So sweet, so pretty...I love it

I can hear you say "pfff that looks easy"
Yes but 1) I don't have enough polas to do it and 2) even if I did I think V. would find it a little too girly

So I'm thinking about getting one of those instead by Sarah and Bendrix

My favorite is this one, j'adore

Each piece is handmade by Veronika from the UK and can be personalized... how sweet ?
It would make the perfect wedding gift too !

So beautiful

What do you think ? Do you like it ?

Milk and Paper

Last night I was looking at a few really good French blogs when I came across this absolutely gorgeous online store...

Milk and Paper has such an amazing selection of cute stationary items, it's hard to resist, I want to buy it all !!

Especially these notebooks so deliciously retro...

Oh and this 'good luck' air balloon card...

And all of these too... I'm already thinking about the adorable candy bags I could make for little O's 2nd bday (almost a year from now...I know, it's called planning daydreaming)...

Don't you love it ?

Oh and they deliver worldwide (you just have to send them an email)

Ok, I have to go, my parents are arriving tonight in Boston and staying with us for one week (yay !). Little O is going to get so spoiled, you have no idea...

Have a wonderful evening

Arima Biarritz

Last summer our friends Julia and Ali were looking for a nice little place to stay around my hometown down in the Basque country in the south west of France.
That's when Julia came across this lovely bed and breakfast situated in the heart of Biarritz.

The pictures speak for themselves... this place is ADORABLE
I love the way the owners (an interior designer and an architect) renovated this place.

It feels so nice and cozy, I would love to sit in that chair with a magazine and a glass of rosé...

Have a great week !

Miam ! Ham and olives cake

The other day, V. asked me what I was making for dinner.
"A cake" I said.
"A cake ?? No but what's for dinner" he responded.
"A cake, like a salted cake with ham and olives, and a salad"
Silence. Then a 'what is she talking about' look on his face...

Ah !

This one is close to being a classic in France. You can have it for lunch/dinner with a salad or for the 'aperitif' with drinks and snacks...
Such a no-brainer and so easy to make, I love it.

Here's the recipe :

250g flour
200g smoked ham
200g pitted green olives
150g gratted swiss or mild cheddar cheese
4 eggs
1 glass of dry white wine (for the recipe, not for you)
1/4 cup vegetable oil
1 tbs 1/2 baking powder
Pepper (no need for salt)

Preheat the oven to 400F
Butter an 11-inches long loaf pan
Mix the flour, eggs and baking powder together
Add the white wine and the oil
Then chop the olives and ham and add it to the mix
Lastly add the cheese and pepper

Bake for 50 min
Let it cool for a little bit and serve lukewarm or cold

Voila ! Enjoy

Oh by the way, V. loved it (thanks God)

Le petit pompier *

Well hello there...
How was your week end ? I hope nice and relaxing...
Ours was definitely busy, we had friends over for dinner on Saturday and then a bridal shower on Sunday. Little O spent the whole week end playing with his new firefighter hat that I got at daycare last week. Cute.
Have a nice week
