Happy Lundi

Hi everyone... I hope you've had a fantastic week end
Mine has been crazy busy with work and this week will be just as insane...It's crunch time at work so posting will be light this week (sorry).

In the meantime, I'd like to share some sweet thoughts my youngest sister once sent me with this postcard in my first year in the US.

"Just a little thought for you from Paris... I'm sending you a little bit of sun, some terrasse de café and some girlfriends to remind you to take it easy... I hope you like this photo, personally I found it dreamy...lots of bises, Grace"

Have a great week

With love, from France

YAY ! My friend Elo just got back from her vacation back home in France and she brought me back some goodies !!!
I have to admit I always always have a little list ready for whenever one of my friend is going back or when my parents are coming over... Just a few things you know, the basics...

1. Food - ok if I could I would make it all about cheeses and foie gras but my parents would get arrested at the US custom and that's not really an option given their fluency in English, they couldn't even explain themselves... so all I'm asking for are Tagada and Kinder... That's it ! None of them is really French, they're both German candies (I think) but so popular in France. Tagada strawberries (fraises) are as one of my American friend describes it "marshmallows coated in sugar" (yes approximately 1000 cal per candy, I just ate about half a dozen at my desk...he he), and then Kinder chocolate...simply the best, it's soooo good

2. Magazines - about every single fashion-kids-people-news French magazines (and that definitely add a good 15lb to my parents' suitcase)

3. Shower gel - yes you read it right...especially "Le Petit Marseillais", j'adore ! And I tell you why, for some reason I don't really like the thick texture of most shower gels here at CVS (doesn't mean I don't use them anyway...French people DO shower...everyday). This one smells divine and it has a nice light texture...You don't know what I'm talking about ? that's ok...moving on

4. Avene - La lotion micellaire to be exact...the best makeup remover EVER (and you can buy it in the US too in some CVS stores or online like here)

5. Lastly, I promise I'll stop writing soon (this post is getting long), kids books in French. I mean, little O has to learn French, the little guy has no choice. And the amazing L'imagerie des bébés books are just wonderful for him. Super durable and resistant with great colorful illustrations made out of playdough.

That's it for my top 5.
How about yours ? Do you live far from home ? What do you ask your family/friends to bring you when they come visit ?

Vive la mariée !

This was my dream wedding dress...
I fell in love with this picture in a French bridal magazine my mom had sent me for inspiration. I loved everything about it, the skirt, the sleeveless top with this amazing collar, the pretty negligé bun, EVERYTHING !

I did a bit of research at the time and I fell head over heels for Delphine Manivet's dresses...

I mean... aren't they so gorgeous ?? I especially love the short one (how cute ?) and the top left one, that I also spotted here

I did not wear this dress for my wedding...
My son was born 2 months before our big day so I needed a very forgiving dress at the time (just a few lb to lose). Luckily, my super talented friend Penney made me a gorgeous, gorgeous dress and it all came together nicely in the end (thank God !).

How about your dream wedding dress ? Have you found it ?

Bon week end

Well hello there !

Do you have any cool plans for this week end ?

V. and I are going to a friend's wedding tomorrow (while little O will hang out with his favorite babysitter) and I can't wait ! Trust me, it's not like we get to go out just the two of us really often so hooray !! I'm so ready, I have a dress I bought back in April ready to get out of the closet, I've got the shoes, the bag  and I'm doing a charcoal mask as we speak (so yes my face is pretty much dark grey at the moment and V just walked in the room... what's up babe ?)... hum...

While I can slowly feel it tightening (soon I won't be able to smile or sneeze without pain), here are a few things I found interesting this week :

* These wooden wedding cake topper...and even better these boogie-woogie bride and groom, hilarious !
* I wish this was my desk/office (if I had one)
* Cool posters for the house...
* Wanted (je le veux !) : this JCrew bag, big is beautiful
* And some French for the week

Ok got to go, time to wash this mask off, I want my face back...

Have a great week end

Little O's pick : Barnabé aime le café

Little O is picky when it comes to toys... I did try to make him like some of the cool 'doudou' that our friends and family got him (chaton look at this one, you like the déglingos lobster don't you ??) but no, he doesn't care.
The one thing he likes when he goes to bed is his Barnabé aime le café guitar. I don't blame him, I love it too (and not only because it helps me to put him to bed at night) but who could resist the adorable design and the irresistible music it plays (ours plays 'love me tender').
And the girls version is just as cute... love, love, LOVE the matriochka

Which one would you pick ? Do you play any music to help your baby fall asleep ?

Ashish @ Topshop

I'm loving this jersey collection by Ashish at Topshop... The top 2 are definitely my favorite. I can see why the designer decided to pick these very common French words or expression, it seems to be the basic French you have to know to get around (Merci would also be a good one).
Do you know any French ? What's your favorite French word/expression ? My hubby's is 'on va a la plage' (let's go to the beach)...not the most practical thing to know but oh well I'll take it, it still sounds adorable with an american accent.

Have a great week xx

Beau gosse

Little O just started 'toddler' at daycare this past month...Yep, he's not an infant anymore, he's a big toddler !
And there's mostly girls in his class so I really want him to look his best to impress all the ladies, like a true French 'beau gosse'...

Well, he can't really speak any French yet but mama can go crazy work her magic on the styling piece...

Here in Boston, I mostly shop at the Gap for him but when I'm home back in France I go visit my Spanish BFF : ZARA !

And guess what ? Last week Zara finally opened its eshop ! Oh but guess what (again) ? Only in Europe... aaargh !!

* Deep breath *

Ok apparently, the US are next for 2011 (let's hope for January)

In the meantime, I did my own little selection of oh-so-adorable (and super affordable) pieces

Which one is your favorite ? I can't decide between the yellow raincoat or the green puff jacket... Or maybe the monster tee-shirt that says 'GRRR' ??

À très vite

Happy Lundi

Wow, this girl is AMAZING !
She made my day today (and something tells me I'll have this song in my head for the next 3 days, I can't stop singing already)
I found it the other day via a really good French blog called Wafa's Blog
Oh and if you want to sing along, the lyrics are here (you're welcome)
Wishing you all a great week

Bon week end

This lady in NYC is fantastic with her 2 crazy-sized dogs !
Love the contrast, love the green outfit and love the red fanny pack !

Have a great week end xx

Crazy busy

God I can't believe that 1- it's already Friday 2- Summer is over (noooooo) 3- there's a tropical storm heading towards Boston tonight (what ???)

September is going to be SO insane for me (lots of projects overlapping with each other but I like it that way), I could use some help from this amazing Ferm Living wall sticker to get everything organized and under control...

Take a deep breath, it's almost the week end (and a long one here in the US with Monday off - YES !)
