Friday bits

Hooray it's Friday !!
How was your week ?
I know this was a short one here in the US with Monday off but it felt pretty long to me ! I'm excited for the weekend, I'm going to a girls night out tonight (yay!) and a bday party tomorrow evening !
Hopefully I can find a babysitter for tomorrow, so V and I can make it a date night (short notice party, can you tell most of our friends don't have kids yet ?)

En attendant, here are a few lovely things that caught my eyes this week :

- Leopard-print derbies, so gorgeous (I'm sending my mum to a Minelli store right now to get me a pair, merci maman)
- Cool kids tee-shirts, I just wish they came in my size (I love the cat one)
- Beautiful tea towels (and exactly what my kitchen needs) (via NabeFabric)
- How awesome would it be to have a slide in your house ? This is genius !
- Some French for the week with this expensive grocery bag (80 euros - ouch !) but a cool way to carry your baguettes with style

Ok mes chéries, that's all for today
Have a beautiful weekend wherever you are

Le petit Lucas du Tertre

Who knew you could get the cutest shots by giving an umbrella indoor to little kids ?
This little girl on the first shot cracks me up ! She's really doing a great job at holding her umbrella really high (and those cheeks !)

Of course the clothes are adorable too, French brand Le Petit Lucas du Tertre also has a great collection for Women (gorgeous scarves alert !)

Hope you're having a lovely Thursday (bientôt le weekend !)

Net-a-porter magazine

Talking about hit girls, Net-a-Porter just did a nice little spread about the-girl-with-the-best-haircut-ever, aka Alexa Chung.
Some cool pictures of my number one girl crush in very expensive clothes... oh and also her style interview (here)
Mes chéries, do you have a style icon ? Who is it ?

If I had straight hair...

...I would get a bang
There's something about bangs that just looks so so SO cool
My sister just got 'the Kate Moss' as her hairstylist Patrice calls it... I'm not jealous AT ALL (me and my out of control curly hair are perfectly happy together, most of the time)
I've been thinking about cutting my long hair for the Summer (the truth is I'll probably never have the guts to do it).
Does season change makes you want to change haircut too ?
If so, check out some inspiration for Spring here

Friday bits

Hooray! it's Friday and it's a long weekend here in the US with Monday off (hooray again !)

Here are a few adorable things I've seen in blogo-land this week :

- the cutest gift wrap tutorial ever, I'm definitely going to give it a try
- breathtaking water colored ladies (via Oh Joy)
- what a cool baby ! I wonder where his couvre-chef comes from (via Garance
- Isabelle Marant's new line of jewellery for kids (that I would totally steal borrow from my kid)
- Pocahontas tea for one set, irresistible

Wishing you all a fun and relaxing weekend

Ma bicyclette

This made me laugh... I've been thinking about getting a bike this Spring so I can take my little man on a stroll but my problem is that I wouldn't know where to store the bike (we have stairs in front of our house and our sidewalk is on the narrow side).
Well clearly, this guy has found the perfect solution...

Daydreaming : Absolutely Perfect Clothes

One thing I love about this time of the year is that even if it's still freezing outside, stores are getting their new spring collection and the view of cute summery outfits puts me instantly in a good mood... I see the light at the end of the tunnel !

So today I've been daydreaming looking at the new APC collection... simple perfection

If it was just me (read: if I wasn't a very responsible mother who doesn't make stupid impulsive decisions when it comes to buying clothes) I would spend my entire bonus right here before it even hits my bank account... but no, no I'm not like that... Résiste Marie, prouve que tu existes (France Gall anyone ?)... sigh

Mes poulettes, what would you pick ?

I'm a birthday planner

Well not really but kind of... Look, little O is turning 2 in 2.5 months  (to be exact) and all I can think of is 1- how did this happen ? 2 YEARS OLD ??? and 2- what am I going to do for his bday ?

You have to understand, all I see on blogs and in magazines over here are super more-than-perfect bday parties for kids where EVERY cupcake topper matches the curtains... the bar is high people !

Although I'm definitely not going after perfection here, I would love to throw a fun little party for our petit homme...

Enters HAPPY, the newest addition to the Saison family... Oh joy and happiness !
One stop shop for all the bday supplies you need (well, all the stuff I definitely need) to throw an adorable goûter d'anniversaire French style ! And they deliver worlwide !

Hooray !!

Tell me, do you have any tips/ideas for organizing little kids bday party ? I'm giving myself another month to think about it :)

Pour bien commencer la journée...

I don't know about you ladies but for me, a great way to start my day is to go check out my horoscope... I don't know it kinda gives me an idea of what to expect for the rest of my day/week/month. Ok clearly I know that they not super accurate but I can't help it, I love reading them, that is seriously probably the first thing I read in a magazine (I'll admit it).

In the meantime and for all of you who also love horoscopes, I figured I'd share my best 'addresses' : the US edition of Elle mag has some good ones online (pretty detailed which I love) and then the best of all, AstrologyZone (by month only but very detailed and spookily accurate - I'm serious)

Do you read your horoscope ? do you believe in that stuff ? I always tend to think that it's all going to happen when it's positive and that it's all b*s* when it's not...selective I am :)

Enjoy !

Beau gosse

I sometimes find the cutest outfits for little O at Baby Gap... This is what I got him this weekend, a bright yellow rain jacket (how much more French can it get ??) and then this super cute tee-shirt (check out the back it gets even cuter)... Mama just wants to make sure her little man looks like a real beau gosse at daycare to hand off his Valentine's cards next week :)

ps: by the way, do you guys have any cute ideas for Valentine's day kids cards ? I need some inspiration asap (help !)

Sunday bits

Hello there...

How's your weekend so far ? I hope you're having a lovely and lazy Sunday

Mine has been pretty good, the little guy is taking a nap and I plan on making some banana bread when he wakes up (yummy recipe here). Also yesterday afternoon I was invited to a clothes' swap at my friend's Diane... Such a cool idea, everybody had to bring clothes/accessories they wanted to give away, we all got together with some tasty snacks and lots of wine and then we went shopping ! It was so fun, I left with the cutest owl necklace and 2 pairs of equally cute earrings (that I can't wait to show off at work tomorrow :)

So, in the meantime, here are a few things that caught my eyes this week on the Web :
- the most adorable letterpress cards (I'm saving this idea for our Xmas card next year)
- what I need right now, a little weekend here with my girlfriends back home (a girl can dream)
- a really cute Valentine's day DIY (I love the banana one)
- 10% off at this amazing Portland vintage shop (code : YoLove) (and I can't wait to start wearing this dress... if only I could fast forward to Spring)
- the coolest office space ever (don't you love those big windows ?)

Have a fabulous Sunday mes chéries

Wanted ! 'Dessine-moi un Parisien'

This time, I'm not lusting after a pair of shoes or a new bag, no, all I want right now is to get my hands on a copy of this book by Olivier Magny...
I've been reading his HILARIOUS blog 'Stuff Parisians like' for the past hour and I've been laughing out loud on my couch... So true and so funny, you cannot not love it...
If you want to understand what's really happening in a Parisian mind or if you're planning a trip to France and want to sound like a true Parisian (although not recommended outside of Paris), go right ahead...
I always say that all French people are not like Parisians (read : snob, rude and unfriendly*) but I'll have to admit that I've said lots of the things the author makes fun of in this book.

Spoil yourself and go have a look (it's in English)

Miam ! des crêpes !!

C'est la Chandeleur today in France ! Probably one of my favorite holiday as it involves eating crêpes all day long ! Ah !

So today, here's my little gift to you, my secret crêpes recipe (ok, not really a secret, but it's a good one I promise)

You need :
250g flour
2 eggs
50cl milk
2 tbs melted butter
oil for the pan
salt
secret ingredient (totally worth it) : zest of an orange

and of course a crêpe pan (stating the obvious, I know)

So it goes like this :
Mix the flour with half of the milk
Add eggs, then melted butter and a pinch of salt
Add the rest of the milk and stir everything together until the pâte is smooth
Cover and let it stand for one hour (step that I always skip due to lack of patience)

Before starting to make the crêpes, add the orange zest
Put a little bit of oil in the pan and then pour a little bit of the liquid into the pan making sure it coats the surface evenly (move the pan in circular motion)
Cook for about 2 min until the bottom is light brown. Loosen with spatula, turn and cook the other side.

Serve hot with a side of melted butter, sugar, jam, honey and nutella and let everybody try their own combo. It's the best ! My fave is melted butter + sugar...trop bon !
